Dr. Martina Mylrea is an Academic Developer at the Centre of Education and Enhancement at James Cook University (JCU). She has a Master of Education in Learning Technologies and a PhD in Pharmacy Education. Her doctoral research focused on designing and evaluating a novel program to foster professional identity development among pharmacy students, using Self-Determination Theory as an underpinning framework.
Dr. Mylrea has extensive experience in teaching and learning in the School of Pharmacy at JCU, where she was a Senior Lecturer from 2009 to 2023. She taught courses in pharmaceutics and research training, and was the Academic Lead for Teaching and Learning and the Chair of the Pharmacy Board of Studies. She also played a key role in the transition of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) program to a blended delivery model across three regional campuses in Queensland. She is skilled in using digital technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. She also provides training and support for staff in the use of online learning tools and pedagogies.
Dr. Mylrea research interests include professional identity development and pharmacy education. She has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. She supervises honours and higher degree by research (HDR) students in topics related to pharmacy practice, education, and professional development.
