Official Centre launch

The Centre held a very successful launch on Tuesday 11th August at the conclusion of Day1 of the Leaders in Indigenous Medical Education Conference hosted by JCU.  A crowd of academics, community members, health sector representatives and conference delegates enjoyed the didgeridoo playing of local man Jai Cummings and refreshments under the trees in the health precinct courtyard, whilst hearing from Professor Ian Wronski and the Centre Directors, Professor Sarah Larkins and Professor Jacinta Elston.

The Directors spoke about exciting times ahead for the research centre with research priorities including the use of telehealth and m-health technologies in new models of care to meet priority needs, building a “fit-for-purpose” health workforce for the region through training and research capacity building, and strengthening processes for needs based health service planning.
