PRIZES: Claudia Cobos wins Cambridge student award

BMDT PhD student Claudia Cobos won the student award for best poster presentation at the 19th RSC / SCI Medicinal Chemistry Symposium in September 2017.

This year's RSC / SCI Medicinal Chemistry Symposium, Europe’s premier biennial Medicinal Chemistry event, focused on first disclosures and new strategies in medicinal chemistry.

Reflecting current trends in medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical research, the scientific programme featured lectures on the full range of drug targets, key enabling processes and technologies together with late breaker talks. Furthermore, one session was dedicated to neglected tropical diseases including a planned live webcast that will be recorded for further distribution. We encouraged additional poster presentations dedicated to this subject and included a flash poster event to further highlight this important area of medical research.

Poster contributions from the whole field of medicinal chemistry were invited. Flash presentation sessions were held for a selected number which involved a two-minute presentation of poster highlights.

Claudia's PhD research focuses on development of disulfide-rich peptides as potential drug leads.
