Elizabeth Knight is a researcher and professional career development practitioner interested in how tertiary education engages in the labour market, taking a sociological perspective. Her work concerns equity of access to, in and from post-school education, employability and the implications in for career education in schooling.
Much of my research is connected with my work in tertiary institutions for the last twenty years as a career counsellor, disability support worker and academic registry professional staff member. I have particular focus on the provision of institutional information and support for transition into post-compulsory education.
I have written extensively on employability, access to career information (including digital engagement), support for non-traditional students in VET and higher education and the importance of place in educational transitions. My first roles were in recruitment and I have worked in hospitality recruitment, teacher recruitment, labour hire for temporary roles and in head hunters for senior and management roles.
My current projects include work on wellbeing and career engagement, the role of parental support in career transitions, Universal Design for Learning and the purposes of education.
