About

Dr To had his BSc and MSc at St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Russia with only HD and many student awards. He completed his PhD at the University of Queensland and was granted some other awards, including a title "UQ Future Leader - 2014". He had a short postdoctoral research in Mathematical Sciences at Queensland University of Technology before joining JCU in 2016.

Dr To has expertise in numerical simulation, geotechnical and dam engineering. His focused topics are soil (surface and internal) erosion, slope stability, consolidation, ground improvement, and soil contamination. He is the author of a new suffusion assessment method, which is also applicable for contact erosion. This research got the first prize of a global research competition Golder Foundation Awards in 2014.

In terms of professional experience, he worked as dam designer and design inspector in Vietnam. Dr To is an author of a book in Vietnamese for site engineers employing Vaccum Consolidation Method.
