Jaclyn works as a Research Officer with TropWATER. She gained a BSc in Biology: Ecology, Behaviour and Evolution from the University of California, following which she undertook post-graduate studies in Marine Biology at JCU investigating the effects of topographic complexity on risk assessment in settlement-stage reef fish. 

Her current research focuses on the ecology of tropical marine habitats, specifically seagrass meadows and coral reefs potentially at risk from coastal development. In this role she manages and contributes to several state-wide research, monitoring and assessment programs. She has also worked on nutrient availability in coral reefs, deep-sea hydrothermal vent community dynamics, and connectivity of reef fish populations.
