- Research Disciplines
Dr. Jacob Wood is currently the Associate Dean of Research for the College of Business, Law and Governance in JCU Australia and the Associate Dean of Research for Business, IT, and Science in JCU Singapore. In addition to this, he is also the Managing Director of the Centre for International Trade and Business in Asia (CITBA) [www.jcu.edu.au/citba] and an Associate Professor of International Business and Trade at JCU. At JCU Singapore, Dr. Wood was awarded the Academic and Researcher of Year in 2019, and the awards for Research Excellence and Excellence in Professional Engagement in 2020.
With a PhD in International Studies majoring in International Trade, Dr. Wood has more than 10 years experience working in South Korea where he has held roles as an Assistant Professor at Korea University of Technology and Education and then more recently as an Assistant Professor of Asia Business and International Trade at Chungnam National University.
Dr. Wood's research interests focus on issues in the fields of transportation economics and management, development economics, and international trade. His works have been published in the Journal of Cleaner Production, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, the Journal of World Trade, Sustainability, the Singapore Economic Review, the Journal of Asia-Pacific Economic Literature, the Human Resource Development Review and the Scientometrics Journal amongst others. Recently, Dr. Wood also published a book with Springer Nature titled "A Multidimensional Economic Assessment of Africa".
Since 2017, Dr. Wood has also received two Korean National Foundation grants [(NRF-2017S1A5A2A03068293 - 50 million won and NRF-2020S1A5A2A03041143 - 226 million won)]. He is also a Fellow at the Cairns Institute and is actively pursuing project opportunities between the institute and CITBA. In recent times, he also organized a panel discussion event that involved all of the leading Chambers of Commerce in Singapore, the results of which led to an article being published in the Straits Times. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/tough-questions-for-tough-times
Dr. Wood is also seeking expressions of interest from potential PhD candidates with research experience and interests in neoprotectionism and international trade barriers, trade negotiations, the WTO dispute settlement system, and microeconomic policies.
