Dr Julie Lovisa finished her Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours at James Cook University, Townsville in 2009. She then completed her postgraduate studies under the supervision of A/Prof Sivakugan and was awarded her doctorate with Cum Laude in 2012. Her postgraduate work was within the field of soil mechanics, in particular the analytical modelling of soft soil consolidation with emphasis on the effects of non-uniform initial excess pore water pressure distributions.

Julie is currently a reviewer for more than 7 international journals, and was recently appointed a member of the editorial board for the International Journal of Geotechnical Engineering (UK)
