Robert Robson FAPS, FRMetS is a long-time staff member of James Cook University and a former student of its precursor, the Townsville University College from 1964-5. He graduated with Honours in Physics from the University of Q'ld in 1967 and subsequently became a weather forecaster with the Brisbane office of the Bureau of Meteorology. In 1972 he obtained a PhD in theoretical physics from ANU, Canberra, and then took up a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta, Canada.
