Having practised as a speech pathologist in a very large teritary teaching hospital in the UK for 18 years I transitioned into academia, following which I moved to Australia in 2013.
I’m the Clinical Education Coordinator for Speech Pathology at JCU and also teach into second, third and fourth year subjects I also teach into various other subjects as appropriate and supervise Honours research and Professional projects.
As Clinical Education Coordinator I arrange and oversee all of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year clinical subjects and assign students to suitable placements, both internally on campus at the Clinical Practice Building, and externally within schools, clinics, hospitals, NGOs and private practices throughout QLD, and potentially other regions throughout Australia and overseas.
My research interests include dysphagia, videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing, and my current PhD surrounds the ethics and legalities of the preferred method of feeding within end-stage dementia.
