Dr. Shailey Chawla has been an academic for about 15 years and is currently an adjunct and sessional lecturer in Information Technology at James Cook University. She previously worked at PSB Academy in Singapore where she managed the computer science programmes of Coventry University, UK besides internal programmes. She taught for about 10 years in India at different universities.
Her primary area of research focus and expertise is in Requirements Engineering with an emphasis on improving the understanding of business goals to align them with the system requirements that are then used to design the systems. Her PhD research was on improving the requirements analysis of Web applications using a goal-based approach.
Shailey has multiple research publications in reputed international journals and conferences in this area of work. She also worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Hong Kong Polytechnic University where she did research in the area of big data analysis resulting in a published book chapter and some conference papers. She has been orgnaizing Software Engineering Education workshop (SEED) at Asia Pacific Software Engineering Conference for a few years.
She currently advises students in the areas of human computer interaction, software engineering for novel technologies, data analysis, context specific mobile applications.
