Van is a Law Lecturer within the Law School and Director of the JCU Tax Clinic at James Cook University.
The JCU Tax Clinic, established in 2019, offers free tax advice, representation and information to unrepresented individual and small businesses. The Tax Clinic is supported by JCU business and law student volunteers under the full supervision from our local tax practitioners from Coutts Redington Charter Accountants. Van was a tutor in Taxation Law at Deakin University from 2005 to 2006. From 2007 to 2010 she was engaged as an Associate Lecturer at Monash University, in the Department of Business Law and Taxation. During this period she tutored in Taxation Law; Business Law; Commercial Law and Company Law. From 2008 to 2010 Van lectured and tutored in Taxation Law; Taxation Law and Practice and conducted lecturers in Workplace Taxation Law in 2009.
Van’s research interests are in Taxation Law as set out below.
Van’s current teaching responsibilities are as set out below. Van teaches first year subjects and fourth year electives offered in the Bachelor of Laws and first and third year subjects offered in the Bachelor of Business. In addition, from 2011 to 2015 Van lectured and tutored in Legal Institutions and Processes and Advance Taxation Law.
