Ms Veronica Graham ~ Lecturer

Veronica completed her PhD advised by Prof Alan Clough with a focus on evaluation of programs designed to reduce substance misuse demand and harms in remote Indigenous community settings after working on the 'Cape York Cannabis Project' (NHMRC 601002). She is also a full-time science teacher at Carinity Education Shalom and with a passion for mental health outreach and young people's wellbeing. While enrolled in her PhD she was fortunate enough to work on projects that explored many facets of the health system in North Queensland: health worker recognition (with A/Prof Steph Topp); service needs with respect to Emergency Examination Authorities (Prof Alan Clough); upskilling teachers to meet the needs of high mental health load populations (SUN Project, Youth Empowered Towards Independence, Cairns); suicide prevention strategies for ex-ADF personnel (Operation Compass, Townsville) among several smaller evaluations and roles. Veronica continues to consult for the SUN project and is an investigator on the Skills for Life Project (Testing for scale up: An Indigenous social and emotional learning program, led by Prof Janya McCalman/ARC: LP21030132).
