Increased pollinator habitat enhances cacao fruit set and predator conservation

These data provide counts of flowers, fruits, as well as measurement of harvested fruit mass on a cacao farm where trees in plots were treated or untreated with cacao husks, and trees within plots either had ants present or excluded from trees. Trees either received or did not receive supplemental pollen addition.

The research evaluates the effects of the addition of cacao husks to cacao plots on and the addition of artificial pollination, in the presence and absence of Oecophylla smaragdina ants on fruit yields. The findings suggest that the addition of cacao husks increase the rate of pollination, and final yields on the farms. Column titles are Plot (the individual plot identifier), Tree (the individual tree identifier), Husk (present = 1, absent = 0), HP (Hand pollination, present = 1, absent = 0), GTA (1 = ants present, 0 = ants excluded), Sum_flowers (total flowers observed over the 9 sample dates), TOTAL_NP_Cherelles (total number of naturally pollinated cherelles), Harvested_pod_Count_Tree (total harvested fruit count), and Total_POD_WEIGHT_TREE (total harvested fruit mass).
