Description
Descriptions
  1. Type: brief

Transects used for Dugong Aerial Surveys in Shark Bay region in 2007.

  2. Type: full

Strip-transect aerial surveys of Ningaloo Reef and Exmouth Gulf were conducted in 2007. These surveys were designed primarily to estimate the abundance and distribution of dugongs, although they also allowed sea turtles and dolphins, and, to a lesser extent, whales, manta rays and whale sharks to be surveyed. This dataset consists of the map of the transects used in this survey.

  3. Type: note

Funding for these surveys was obtained from the following government agencies: - Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), - Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM), - Australian Marine Mammal Centre (AMMC), - Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA), - Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), - Marine and Tropical Sciences Research Facility (MTSRF), - National Environmental Research Program (NERP).
