The dataset contains 100km^2 of WorldView-2 multispectral (8 bands, 2m resolution) and panchromatic (0.5 m resolution) imagery of the south east coastline of Negros Oriental, in the central Philippines, from Dumaguete to Bonbonon. The imagery was georeferenced, orthorectified, and pan-sharpened by the commercial imagery provider (GeoImage), and was delivered as 2 panels.
The imagery was collected for the purpose of identifying key types of submerged coastal habitats in the region, in particular coral reefs and seagrass beds.
The uploaded dataset also contains a subset of the 100km^2 image. The 2 panels of imagery delivered by GeoImage were atmospherically corrected using dark-object subtraction, then mosaicked together. The final imagery was trimmed to exclude terrestrial areas and optically deep water.
The imagery was later classified into habitat types using a Maximum Likelihood approach and extracted for manipulation as polygon shapefiles in spatial analysis software.
