Professor Flavio Martins Joins TropWATER for a 3 month sabbatical

Environmental modelling expert Professor Flavio Martins will be joining tropWATER for a three month sabbatical from April 7 Professor Flavio Martins, Vice-Rector of the University of Agarve, Portugal, will be joining TropWATER in Townsville for a 3 month sabbatical starting on April 7.

Flavio is a expert modeller in environmental fluid dynamics, especially for lakes, estuaries and coastal waters.

Flavio will work with Jon Brodie and Eric Wolanski on modelling the Fly River plume in Torres Strait, using the MOHID 3D model. He will also develop 'Individual Based Models' models for fish recruitment, his pet project in science.

He will also implement the MOHID model for the Capricorn Bunker Group, in collaboration with fisheries biologists and JCU student Jodie Schlaefer.
