Kirsten Russell the Exercise Physiologist Clinical Educator based in Mount Isa at Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health, the University Division of Rural Health through James Cook University. Kirsten has over 10 years of clinical experience in private practice, non-government organisations, and has established the clinical placement for Exercise Physiology students in Mount Isa. Kirsten has lived and worked in Mount for eight years and has extensively developed the rural and remote Exercise Physiology workforce through students returning for employment, after completing their Mount Isa placement.
Kirsten graduated from her Master of Philosophy through JCU in 2024, focussing on community engagement to address mental health through physical activity in rural and remote Australian communities. Kirsten is continuing her research into rural and remote physical and mental health, and the role of an Exercise Physiologist within a multidisciplinary team.
