Alex studied in Toronto, Canada at York University where she graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. While studying she volunteered doing environmental research work in Belarus with Earthwatch and as a paramedic in Israel with the national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service. From there she completed a Masters of Immunology and Infectious Diseases and was the president of the Medical Graduate Student Society at Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada. While studying she volunteered and worked with local dental clinics, published papers in scientific journals and presented at local and national conferences. Upon graduation Alex received a Fellowship title for high academic merit. She has also completed a Bachelor of Education and taught high school, college, and university science and math in Toronto.
In 2019 Alex graduated from James Cook University (JCU), Cairns with a Bachelor of Dental Science. While studying in Australia, Alex has published scientific papers in dental journals, presented at and attended local and national conferences and been a guest lecturer at JCU for the last 6 years. She was an executive member of the JCU Dental Student Association and has acted as a liaison between JCU and international students moving to Australia. During her studies Alex worked with Tasmanian Oral Health, Queensland Oral Health and JCU Dental Clinic to provide dental services to communities in Hobart, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns. She is an active member in the Cairns community, a member of the ADA (Australian Dental Association) and in 2019 was a member of the DPL Young Dentist Committee.
