Dr Louise Floyd is an Associate Professor of Law (full-time, permanent at JCU) and also a Barrister to the Supreme Court of Queensland.  In 2011, Dr  Floyd became the first Australian to win the MacCormick Fellowship to the University of Edinburgh Law School, Scotland (to which she returned briefly as Visitor in 2014 and 2017).  She has also served as International Visiting Fellow at the Industrial & Labor Relations School at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA (2002, 2014, 2017 and 2022); Visiting Scholar at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, USA (2002, 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2022); and Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Public and Comparative Law at the University of Hong Kong Law School (2009 and 2010).  From 2008-2016, Dr  Floyd was Director of Research for Law at JCU; during her time in office, she led the Law School to an ERA ranking of 'at world standard' for its research, which it then retained for her entire period in the role.  Dr  Floyd also relieved (as required) as Acting Associate Dean of Research.
