 Leadership

Janice began at JCU in 2018 as the Coordinator of the Masters of International Tourism, Hospitality Management at JCU.  Upon her arrival, she was asked to lead the development of a new Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Hospitality and Events (BTHE) to be offered on three Campuses (Cairns, Brisbane and Singapore) .  She developed partnerships with industry in Cairns and developed an Executive Mentorship Program which provided 100% job placement.  Janice led the collaboration across all levels of the College, Division, recruitment, marketing, and engagement. Janice made a significant contribution to the organisational unit by participating as a facilitator of the Tourism and Hospitality Hackathon with industry professionals to develop the BTHE & MITHM curriculum.  She also played a significant role within the discipline by being the principal investigator for over $120,000 in grants to develop international programs in Indonesia.  As a result, Janice was awarded the highest honour by the University of Florida as a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame in 2020.
